Privacy Policy

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Eden Lane collects, uses, and protects information when you use the hosted Shelf service at app.getshelf.me and the official Shelf browser extensions connected to that hosted service.

This policy does not cover self-hosted Shelf instances. If you run Shelf yourself, you are responsible for the privacy practices of your own deployment.

Information We Collect

• Account information, such as your email address and password authentication data.
• Saved content, such as URLs, page titles, descriptions, images, favicons, folders, tags, rules, and related organization data.
• Integration information, such as connected GitHub account identifiers, GitHub Stars import metadata, OAuth tokens, sync status, and provider settings.
• Browser extension data that you choose to save, including the current page URL and page metadata collected when you use the extension.
• Billing information needed to manage paid hosted plans, including Stripe customer identifiers and payment status.
• Technical information, such as IP address, request metadata, device/browser information, logs, and security events needed to operate and protect the service.
• Aggregate analytics data from Umami that helps us understand site and product usage.

How We Use Information

• Provide, maintain, and secure hosted Shelf accounts.
• Save, organize, search, and retrieve your bookmarks and related metadata.
• Authenticate users and connected first-party clients such as browser extensions.
• Process payments and manage hosted plan access.
• Import and sync connected provider data when you enable integrations.
• Monitor service reliability, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot support requests.
• Understand aggregate product usage and improve Shelf.

Cookies and Local Storage

Shelf uses cookies and browser storage for login, session management, security, and basic application preferences. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising.

Third-Party Services

Hosted Shelf may use the following service providers to operate the product:

• Stripe for payment processing and subscription management.
• Umami for privacy-focused aggregate analytics.
• GitHub when you connect GitHub integrations, such as GitHub Stars imports.
• Railway and related infrastructure providers for hosting, databases, queues, logs, and search services.

These providers process information according to their own privacy policies and only as needed for the service features you use.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers needed to run Shelf, when you direct us to connect an integration, when required by law, or when necessary to protect Shelf, users, and the public.

Retention

We keep account and saved content for as long as your hosted Shelf account is active or as needed to provide the service. Some technical logs, billing records, and backup copies may be retained for a limited period for security, compliance, and operational reasons.

Your Choices

• You can edit or delete saved content inside Shelf.
• You can disconnect integrations from the application settings.
• You can request account deletion, data export, or privacy help by contacting us.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect hosted Shelf data, including session security, access controls, and provider-scoped OAuth tokens. No internet service can guarantee perfect security.

Children

Shelf is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy as Shelf changes. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide notice where appropriate.
